The middle ear implants developed by the prestigious manufacturer Spiggle & Theis are made from medical grade titanium. Titanium is used for its excellent biocompatibility, lightness and strength. Spiggle & Theis was the first company in the world to develop removable, interchangeable-length, removable-head hearing aids. Types of implants:
- Fixed-length implants offer ideal stability and a wide range of lengths (from 3 mm to 7 mm). The central head has a groove and the angle of the head can be adjusted. Each implant is packaged sterilely, one at a time.
- The design of the shortening implants is such that they are perfectly attached to the lateral parts of the loop when the main “head” of the loop is no longer present. Implant heads can be oval or bell-shaped. The bell-shaped heads are designed to be non-enclosed in order to speed up tissue regeneration.
